The Senior Advisory Coalition Gears Up for 2017 Advocacy

Mayor Bowser is preparing an FY18 budget with further reductions for the DC Office on Aging. SAC’s advocacy in 2017 is more important than ever. We hope you’ll join us in fighting for the services that our seniors deserve.

Last year’s budget for FY17 instituted severe cuts to the crucial services the District’s seniors rely on daily for transportation and case management services.  Further cuts to what is an already minuscule part of the budget will leave many of our frailest seniors unable to live safely at home. At a time when our senior population is growing and safety net programs are most important, the District seems poised to leave our most needy seniors out in the cold. The SAC’s Housing, Transportation, and Nutrition Committees will be working over the next couple of months to propose our agenda before lawmakers, community partners, and senior advocates.

Join us at our next meeting on December 12, 2016 at 12:00 – 2:00 PM. RSVP via email to Sac.dc.coordinator@gmail.com
